Okmulgee

 


Okmulgee was the first large Native American town in the Southeastern United States. The original acropolis was occupied from 900 AD to 1150 AD. One of its suburban towns was occupied until 1838 AD. Okmulgee and its suburban villages stretched for 16 km (10 miles) along a fertile river valley.
